As Printed in the Lee's Summit Journal

Veteran banker Rick Viar and a group of Eastern Jackson County business leaders are raising capital for a community bank to be located in Lee’s Summit.

Summit Bank of Kansas City, in organization, will be a full-service community bank primarily focused on providing commercial and personal banking services to small to medium-sized businesses and individuals using a full range of loan, deposit and cash management products.

"We have enjoyed a very favorable response and overwhelming support throughout the community," said Rick Viar, proposed president of the bank.

"Our friends and neighbors in Eastern Jackson County understand the great value in having a truly local, executive management team guided by a local board of directors," he said. "What will ultimately differentiate Summit Bank of Kansas City is our sincere interest in, and an in-depth knowledge about, our community. We understand the local economic climate and will make our business and credit decisions here."

Viar has more than 23 years of commercial banking experience and was most recently community bank president of another bank in Eastern Jackson County.

The group has set a goal to raise $8 million in capital.
