Newly chartered Summit Bank of Kansas City has opened for business at Interstate 470 and Douglas Road in Lee's Summit.

The bank raised more than $8 million in start-up capital from local investors.

Rick Viar, who formerly headed Gold Bank's branch at U.S. 40 and Missouri 291, is the president of the bank.
